Membership in The West by the River Historical Improvement Corp.

West by the River started out as a group of concerned citizens who reside in the neighborhood. Like many Main Street towns across the country, Elyria has suffered urban flight. With this comes the neglect and downfall of the areas closest to the center of town. This is also where the once stately homes are usually located. We work very hard to change the image of our once faltering neighborhood. In order to move to the next stage of our mission, we felt compelled to become some type of historic improvement corporation. One of our goals is to bring the local history of Elyria's architecture and residents to anyone and everyone who is interested. Past activities have included an AppleWalk through the neighborhood during the Elyria Apple Festival, Home & Garden and Victorian Christmas Tours of neighborhood homes. Preservation of Elyria's historic structures is the number one priority of the group.

Any person who subscribes to the purpose and philosophy of this organization can become a member. Residency is not a requirement and we encourage anyone with an interest in our mission to become a member.

Annual membership dues are $15.00 for an individual and $20.00 for a family.

Annual corporate dues are $50.00.
